Review of Du Barry Was a Lady (1943) by Jennifer M — 18 Aug 2008
Yuck, yuck, yuck. I LOVE Gene Kelly movies, but not even he could make up for a bad script and Lucille Ball as his love interest. It's especially hard for today's viewers to see Ball as anything else but a goofball.
The dream sequence is too long and convoluted. Also, Red Skelton is the lead character. Since I love Gene, but don't like Red Skelton, this was a major drawback.
