Review of Dolan's Cadillac (2009) by Jason B — 21 Aug 2010
Adaptations of Stephen King's novels and short stories have been met with mixed results, more often than not they end in a flat, over acted mess. Much like this one. Christian Slater gives a solid performance in a rather lackluster flick.
Given that Dolan's Cadillac is based on a short story it seems that even upon viewing that to much time is given to it and it would've felt more at home with defunct horror anthology television shows like Master's of Horror of Fear Itself.
Sadly Dolan's Cadillac suffers from some overly bombastic dialogue and equally overacted roles making the whole film seem overly melodramatic or just plain silly. The story itself is a good revenge tale that sadly doesn't have enough meat on it's bones to carry itself as a full feature.
Much like the Clive Barker adaptation Book of Blood this flick would've been much more suited to a cable tv show at an hour run time instead of 90 minutes.
