Review of Dog Day Afternoon (1975) by Doug G — 20 Jan 2011
This is 70s cinema at its finest. Its gritty, gripping, intriquing, and focused on a very flawed and troubled character that you find yourself sympathizing with and its hard to believe that alot of the diologue was improvised but it makes sense because of how genuine each character feels.
Most of the time you dont feel like youre watching actors, you feel like youre watching the real situation as it unfolds this is also accomplished with a complete lack of music or score (except for the opening credits).
Also along with Deniros performance in Taxi Driver and Nicholson's in The Shining. Al Pacino gives one of my favorite acting performances of all time. forget scarface this is al pacinos finest moment.
