Clint Eastwood is the iconic San Francisco cop, who is assigned the dirty jobs because he gets things done. He complains about the legal restraints put on cops, and goes out on his own to track down and capture a psychotic serial killer.
The movie spawned numerous sequels and many imitators. The series is also noted for its action movie dialogue (also often copied). This is the movie where he asks the bad guys, "So you've got to ask yourself, Do I Feel Lucky? Well, do ya, punk !!" Eastwood should have won an oscar for this, but has never received even one for acting.
