Review of Detachment (2011) by Archibald T — 03 Nov 2012
Best Movie of 2012! This is a work of art. It's also the most depressing movie of the year so you best bring some tissues because you'll be crying your eyes out. The harsh reality that this film shows about inner city schools is quite real and the protagonist (Brody's character) foreshadows the downfall of our school system when we do nothing.
Don't let the trailer fool you though. This isn't just a film about the school system. It's more about human beings who are trying to feel that they're not alone in their lives. That may sound corny, but the way that it's handled in the film is truly unique and compassionate.
A real great film.
