Review of Demetri Martin. Person. (2007) by Jonathan G — 07 Jun 2012
Going in to this Comedy Central TV special, I wasn't sure what to expect. I know that Demetri Martin was the 'youth correspondent' on The Daily Show with John Stewart, but can he hold my attention for an hour? The answer was 'No'.
The first half of the show was great. He was witty, clever, and A.D.D. However, the moment he seemed to start playing an instrument and talking over it, I fell asleep. I'd wake up, rewind it back and try to sit through it again.
Several times I caught myself falling asleep or zoning out on what he was saying. It's nice that he can hide behind an instrument, but if you're not singing - it's not worth wasting our time and attention with that distraction.
I'd like to hear more of his non-instrumental rants.
