Review of Dead Heat (1988) by Ian S — 12 Nov 2010
Treat Williams and Joe Piscopo in a 1988 horror-comedy about a reanimated policeman. Sure thing, sign me up! With a glorious inevitability, Dead Heat is one of the most laughably inane films I've ever seen.
It's cheesy as hell, it makes little sense and the acting isn't quite Oscar material, but it nevertheless stands as a fine example of the short-lived "zombie cop" subgenre that sprang up in the late 80s, and as a silly, fun, gleefully crap B-movie - a star rating is practically irrelevant.
Worth checking out, at least for two effects sequences which are actually pretty good - and it's not every day you get to see people fighting off the reanimated carcass of a beheaded cow (amongst other things) in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant.
