Review of Crumb (1995) by Steve G — 24 Aug 2007
I will never forget seeing Crumb for the first (and second) time at the Downer Theater in Milwaukee with two of my most artsy-fartsy friends. It puts the "fun" in "dysfunction." Not for everyone, but everyone should see it.
If it is about anything, other than Crumb himself, it is about three brothers who have been fated to grow up in the shallow end of the gene pool. It is a tragedy, too, but honest and deeply felt, and therefore more exhilerating than any happy-ending movie.
Funny, sad, and yes, creepy, but intensely moving.
