Review of Cold in July (2014) by Daniel P — 04 Jul 2014
Another genre-flipping gem from the writer/director team behind the near-masterpieces Stake Land and We Are What We Are. Cold in July has elements of thriller, horror, comedy, exploitation and road movie without feeling schizophrenic and whilst maintaining a continually surprising story.
With three very different and equally fascinating male characters (all with different 'types' of 'masculinity') ably performed by three superb actors, this is a real treat. Beautiful cinematography and an evocative synth score add to what is surely to become a cult hit.
