Review of Cinema Paradiso (1988) by Scott N — 29 Aug 2009
The first time I saw it, the ending shocked and surprised me and made me bawl. Lucky for me, I have a bad memory. I watched it for a second time many years later and was caught completely off guard; I was hit once again by the full impact.
For most, the intense emotion will only be felt upon the first viewing. It is SO worth watching. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. If you've not seen it, make sure you have a box of tissues close by.
The story of the little boy, now a man... it's a beautiful story and you never see the ending coming, an ending that grabs your heart and just rips it apart. It's such a beautiful film.
