Review of Children of the Living Dead (2001) by Chris L — 01 Jul 2010
Starts off with a really great opening sequence with Tom Savini taking some serious names and then thereafter, goes straight down hill and doesn't stop falling. The film attempts to mix in a little of the Romero movies with a lead zombie, that has a back story taken from Ed Gein. The lead zombie stalks the family property, which is part of a graveyard that is about to repaved over and made into a car lot. Lead zombie apparently has the ability to bring back the dead as he feels fit.
The film is horribly redubbed. Generally, redubbing isn't something I have major issue with THE DEAD NEXT STORE is redubbed and an amateur effort all its own and produced by Sam Raimi under a false alias. With this one, it's coming out of John Russo's hands, who has been best known for his involvement in the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.
