Review of Chasing the Dragon (2017) by Mike P — 02 Oct 2017
From a small city, Ho (Donnie Yen) earns his way to the top of the Hong Kong underworld in business dealings along with Lee Rock (Andy Lau) who is a cop that took his own control.
Donnie Yen throws down as a great portrayal as Ho. He lets off very stiff emotions interacting with his family. Andy Lau is still the cool guy that goes on his own path of destruction.
The settings is very 60s like as said in the story of Hong Kong. Characters gone from good to bad, violent acts, it very much made the movie what it is supposed to be.
You'll see some Donnie Yen fight scenes but he's not going expert on anybody like most of his martial arts epic. This is a crime drama for certain.
Chasing The Dragon is the type of movie you can enjoy if you like those crime boss roles.
