Review of Cemetery Junction (2010) by Codie E — 15 Apr 2010
Pretty black and white and heavy handed but when the comedy is as astute and the charm and heart so true it is easy to forgive. Gervais and Merchant nail their aim to make a British Saturday Night Fever (minus the dancing) with excellent and subtle period detail.
The cast are excellent, particularly the relative trio of male newcomers. After the disappointment of The Invention of Lying, Gervais has proved he can make it on the big screen (he just needs to stick with Merchant in the future).
