Review of Cast a Deadly Spell (1991) by Keith C — 27 Mar 2010
This was an HBO movie production, and it's one of my favorites. A revisionist history set in post-war L.A., Fred Ward portrays H. Phil Lovecraft, hard-boiled detective who is honest as the day is long, and has no truck with magic.
Toss in the Necronomicon, a tarty virgin, an ex-partner-turned-hood and a young and delicious Julianne Moore and you've got a tasty, magical stew.
