Review of Cairo Time (2009) by Kerry F — 17 Jan 2010
This has to be one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time. The acting was superb. Patricia Clarkson finally gets a moment to be in every single frame and she is divine. Alexander Siddig matches her to perfection.
The subtlety and courage it took to make this movie shines every step of the way. It's a love story set in contemporary Egypt but it feels more as a throw back to an older more classic style, something out of a Kathryn Hepburn movie.
The last indie film I saw that was this good and left you with such a good feeling when you were done was Thomas McCarthy's The Visitor. Cairo Time was heartbreaking, yet completely satisfying. Must see.
