Review of Bullets Over Broadway (1994) by Peter M — 15 Nov 2007
Not everyone appreciates Woody Allen, so I expect this picture could act as a winning compromise. The neurotic character isn't played by Woody himself - but by the ever-capable John Cusack who takes on the role of a Broadway playwright.
This is an excellent tribute and satire of classic films like the original 'Scarface', and offers wonderful insights into the creative perils that playwright could possibly face. While Dianne Wiest is very funny, and Jennifer Tilly does a fantastic job in mocking a Mob airhead female character, it is Chazz Palminteri who steals the show.
Palminteri's thug who provides helpful insights into creativity makes the film even more brilliant than it is. Fantastic!
