Admittedly I knew very little about surf culture in Australia, so this provided a great insight into mateship, brotherhood, rivalries, terratoriality etc. I felt that the film glossed over several issues and was a tad cloying and manipulative in parts (the stirring string music was distracting!) but the characters endeared with their larrakin attititudes.
