Review of Blue Valentine (2010) by Dan L — 27 Jun 2013

What a journey it's been falling in love with this movie. It was hard to watch the first time, so I gave it 3 stars. But it's haunted me ever since and I've been drawn back to the film several times and each time I appreciate new details in the writing, performances, and cinematography.

I think the bottom line is that this film is perfect in its flaws. It's rare that a film stands out like this and lingers so long after I've first seen it. The movie is just so wonderfully raw and real.

And that's a good thing here.
