Review of Blind (2014) by Peter F — 07 Sep 2015
Norweigan film is a very promising directorial debut for Eskil Vogt (The co-writer of Oslo, August 31rst and Reprise), who gives viewers a cinematic view of a novel-esque narrative. Blind could have simply been about a woman ailing with a disability, but Vogt gives it another layer by including a story-within-a-story, and the film makes transgressions towards showing how reality influences art.
Sublimely shot and edited, this film feels like the work of an auteur, and even if it's a tad anti-climactic in the end, it's playful and enlightening tone are liable to stay stuck in your head for days.
Hopefully Eskil will only continue to make films this potent.
