Review of Black Water (2008) by Leslie L — 15 May 2010
I hate to be cliche, but if you liked "Open Water" you'll love this film! It was shot on location, using real crocs, and had that slow burn real-life stressfulness about it. If I had any intention of ever going into a croc or alligator habitat it's now gone.
The film doesn't take long to get set up...a married couple and the woman's sister are out for holiday, picking random side trips as they go. Day 2 takes them on a day fishing trip, duirng which a croc flips their boat and starts by eating the tour guide first.
The remainder of the film is a series of attempts to get out with a very territorial croc stalking them as they stay to the upper part of mangroves. Not a bad film at all, I enjoyed it.
