Review of Ben-Hur (1959) by Spencer N — 14 May 2011
A little uneven after the intermission, but still an amazing movie. Everything about it boasts the word "MASSIVE" the sets are MASSIVE, the score is MASSIVE, the length is MASSIVE and the best part is that it knows it is incredible so we can take it seriously.
Mr. Wyler does a great job directing this EPIC (using that word in every sense of its definition) motion picture. Definitely up there with Citizen Kane, The Godfather, and The Shawshank Redemption as one of the definitive Hollywood greats.
