Review of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (2016) by Bily T — 18 Oct 2016
This rating doesn't reflect watching the movie at home in isolation. This rating reflects watching the film in a one off cinema showing with a load of hardcore Batman nerds.
It's a long stream of witty references and clever in jokes that will fly over a lot of people's heads, but then isn't that what you want for an animated reunion celebrating the '66 series' 50th anniversary?
The crucial point is that the references and in jokes were indeed witty and clever and everyone, including me, was laughing so hard and often that I think I missed quite a few.
The cast are so old now that their voice performances make the characters sound drunk and lecherous but that only adds to the comedy.
It won't bear repeated viewings but if you grew up with the series, be it during its original broadcast or, like me, repeated on Sunday afternoons before The Man from U.N.C.L.E., it's well worth a watch.
