I hadn't seen the original - way before my time - but I had read that it was a kids' classic, so I took mine to watch it. I don't care much for musicals, but this one blew me away. My kids loved it too.
I've long wondered if ratings are meaningless, at least for me. My long held suspicions have been fortified.
