Review of Angst (1983) by Private U — 25 Mar 2008
This is THE most disturbing movie i've ever seen, and i've seen them all. It also contains some the most brilliant camerawork and aesthetic design i've ever seen. Due to it's above qualities, I argue that it raises the film above it's genre (horror) and onto that of art.
It's not that the movie is that gory, but it's in the way it presents the murders that it's so unflinching: in realtime. Every sloppiness, every awkwardness is rendered vividly, and the camera never cuts.
Not recommended for the faint at heart, only hardcore gorehounds need apply. The acting, cinematography, and direction rank among the best the genre has to offer.
