Review of Amadeus (1984) by Danny C — 23 Apr 2011
Brilliant! certainly deserving of its 8 Oscars. Both F. Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce carry Peter Shaffer's story beautifully (which by the way was originally written for the stage). My only complaint is that the ending is somewhat anti-climatic. Who knows maybe when I watch it again ill even overlook this one minor issue. If anything.
Sallieri's quest to conquer Mozart artistically is dripping with dramatic irony in the end (which may explain the anti-climatic of the finale).
