Review of Alexander (2004) by Cheryl L — 28 Jan 2018
I saw this opening day the night before Thanksgiving in 2004. I grew up being fascinated by Alexander the Great and I was a huge fan of Oliver Stone even at that age. I left incredibly disappointed. Years later I bought the Final Cut on Blu Ray and was amazed at how much Stone had improved upon his theatrical cut of the film.
It's not perfect by any means and a lot scenes are flat out poorly written, shot and acted but when the film works it REALLY works. The massive DVD and Blu Ray sales for Alexander show that clearly people are coming around to this flick, warts and all and in an age of endless corporate shit being churned out by Hollywood, its a miracle a film this audacious even got made at all.
