Review of Absentia (2011) by Sam D — 29 Aug 2012
Amazingly absent from cinemas this is a well plotted and brilliantly low budget but ambitious Horror film. The idea of turning the monster under the bridge adage into a real social fear and making the new urban environment become engulfed by folklore Horror, is a well played idea.
Its also great how the film chose the less is more approach in regards to its shadow dwelling beastie. A real surprising treat that has the style, trappings and imagination of Indie films like Donnie Darko and matches them up against moments of enticing (and realistic) human drama's.
Ambiguous and then some.
