Review of Abigail's Party (1977) by Chase J — 02 Jan 2008
Alison Steadman is divine as Beverly, the diabolical party host who overserves her guests liquor and blatantly hits on one of her guests husband while bossing her own husband around like a servant. This is like a British version of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? except more devastating.
This is really hard to find, but I have a copy. It absolutely reaks of the 70's. I love the opening scene where Beverly is making her self a drink to Donna Summers 'Love to Love You, Baby'.
