Review of A Single Shot (2013) by Ryan J — 11 Oct 2013
I really like Sam Rockwell and he is good in this but his character, make that all the characters, in this film are not likable. Rockwell is an unemployed hunter, he hunts out of season and trespasses on other peoples land and on one fateful day he mistakenly kills a young woman whom he thought was a deer he had been hunting.
On trying to cover up his crime he finds a stash of money and takes it. The money and the murdered girl are all involved in some nefarious dealings with some ex cons. This story goes so slow it gets annoying, the soundtrack is loud and eerie but doesn't really suit the film, the one plus is that the film looks beautiful, the surroundings and the way it has been shot is quite good but it just drags on.
They should have put subtitles whenever Jeffrey Wright speaks his lines.
