Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Tal G — 08 Apr 2018
An incredibly Jewish movie. Just saying that I was not expecting it. Went into it blind.
This movie honestly did everything it wanted to do extremely well. From the intricate theme exploration, to the offbeat humor, to the extremely dark dramatic turns in the movie.
It was a masterwork on all fronts. Sharp, fitting acting. Beautiful cinematography. Memorable music. Great direction. And I have to mention the very unusual yet ultimately fascinating opening scene.
It's a movie with an incredible amount of layers and depth to it. I'll come back to it again in the future, for sure.
