Review of A Private War (2018) by David%20 J — 04 Nov 2018
A must see for Rosamund Pike superlative best actor of year performance and for "astonishing" feature debut of documentarian Matthew Heineman ("Varierty").
Thjs film is a compelling psychological thriller and psychological tragedy told with taut.
Authenticy about the great Sunday Times war correspondent who died in Homs Syria in 201`2. It is a deeply affecting---and highly innovative---fusion of feature and documentary techniques seeking the truth, not Hollywood gimmicks, with Pike incredible.
As Colvin and the scenes both in the middle east of breath-taking authenticity.
With great supporting actors Jamie Dornan (photographer), Tom Hollander (editor) and Stanley Tucci (late in life lover) and legendary cinematographer Bob Richardson providing.
Both nuance and drive to this top film of the year.
