Review of A Perfect Day (2015) by David L — 29 Dec 2015
This movie is a missed opportunity, and its a shame. In the post-Bosnian/Serbian conflict, some 20 years later the horror of the war remains and aid workers from Aid Across Borders have to fight against UN workers who aren't worth a damn in a war-torn country, locals who take this crisis of a dead man in a well to charge others for water.
..etc. Its an honorable effort, but the director ruined it with raucous punk rock songs (Marilyn Manson covering Sweet dreams?!), silly romantic episodes between the aid workers, and Tim Robbin's not-too-funny jokes.
Choice cut: Lou Reed's end score of "There is no time", and Marlene Dietrich's "Where have all the flowers gone".
