Review of 13 Assassins (2010) by Christian C — 18 Aug 2011
Wow! Any fan of films like Seven Samurai and Ran will love this movie. Two former schoolmates, one in charge of security for psychopathic lord who dreams of bringing back the era of the Warring States; the other, given a mission impossible task of killing the lord with the Shogunate virtually disallowing any knowledge of the task.
Both samurai masters play a game of cat and mouse like true chess masters until the final, amazing confrontation between them and their forces. A terrific movie where director Takashi Miike mixes his style with that of the late Akira Kurosawa.
A must see.
