After studying geography, music and drawing, Sylvie Verheyde is noted for his short films (Between dogs and wolves, The green House) in the early 90s, award-winning works at festivals. The young woman then embarks on the writing and directing of A brother, his first feature length film, out in theaters in 1997. Selected for the 50th Cannes film Festival in the section Cinemas in France, this film sets the stage for the revolts of a sister and her brother was critically acclaimed, winning both the Prix Cyril Collard in 1998 and offering the Cesar for most promising female to Emma de Caunes.
