Born in San Pablo, California to his mother, who worked in woman's clothing retail and father who was a truck driver, Ricky is known for his dark, scary and rich characters in film and television. His parents separated when he was 6 months old and was raised, for the most part, by his mother. Since his mother worked so much, he spent much of his time with his grandmother in Danville, California where his penchant for performing was fostered by her at a very young age. Ricky has been acting since he was 7 years old starting in professional theatre and did not break into film and television until 2008, when he was cast in a SyFy Channel (NBC-Universal) Original Movie, House of Bones, in the lead role of Tom Rule, opposite Charisma Carpenter. He garnered much praise amongst the science fiction and horror fan community for his complex performance. House of Bones remains the most repeatedly aired, highest rated SyFy Channel Original Movie since its premiere in October, 2009. He went on to guest spots in many films and television series including Burn Notice, Army Wives, The Glades, Treme, Revolution and Low Winter Sun, to name a few. As a child he moved around the San Francisco Bay Area often and had to adapt to his constant new schools and surroundings. In his 20's he moved to Los Angeles to start a career in comedy since he always loved performing improvisation and was adept at broad comedic character roles. This adaptability was honed with his 4 years of improv/sketch comedy training at The Groundlings in Los Angeles. As of 2011, he is unmarried and has a son, Steffen, born in 2005.
