René-Daniel Dubois (July 20, 1955 in Montreal ) is an actor, screenwriter and dramaturgequébécois. It is also a satiric works on different subjects related to the quebec society.
After his studies at the national theatre School of Canada, René-Daniel Dubois founded the theatre company The Gougoune of fantex, and creates the pieces Panic at the Longueuil and Farewell Dr. Münch in the 1980s. René-Daniel Dubois has written both for the theater and for the cinema, television and radio. His best-known lyrics are still his plays, translated into several languages and played both in Quebec and in English Canada, the United States, South America, Europe, and Australia. Among these, Do not blame yourself ever the bedouin was awarded the Prize of the Governor general of Canada in 1984 while Being at Home with Claude was adapted for the cinema in 1992. In 2000, he starred in the miniseries Canada: A people's history. It is controversial because of his statements. His reflections on the history of Quebec will in particular against the current of nationalist quebec dominant (see his latest book "the Post-Scriptum to one in A thousand", which was launched on 17 December 2007 in Montreal.). This book was a follow up to a documentary film, "one in A thousand", which was dedicated in 2005 by the documentary filmmaker Jean-Claude Coulbois. In addition, in 2006, René-Daniel Dubois publishes "Interviews", a collection of reflections (editions Lemeac). In 2009, it responds to these Discussions by publishing, at Leméac, Pieces. Interview on the echo of the world, the imaginary, and writing (July 2005-January 2006). The archives of René-Daniel Dubois is kept at the centre d'archives de Montréal deBibliothèque and national Archives of Quebec.
