He is the grandson of the ambassador Jean Chauvel, the son of the journalisteJean-François Chauvel, and the nephew of the writer and filmmaker Pierre Schoendoerffer. Of Viet Nam in his youth in Libya, Patrick Chauvel has covered numerous conflicts in which it has brought back many photographs and documentaries. He has also written three books on his experiences : Facilitators of war (2003), Sky (2005) and the Pumps Ricardo Jesus (2012). Isabel Ellsen, another reporter wrote of him : Chauvel is without any doubt the photographer the most brave, the most generous and the most hilarious that I know of. Chauvel is a genuine adventurer. It is also Orangina, summarizing my godson, to say rocked the fort, waved a long, frapadingue, barge, shaken mentally. His body is a huge scar to him alone.
