Leon Trotsky (or Trotsky or Trotzky or Trotzki ; in Russian : Лев Троцкий), real name Lev Davidovich Bronstein (Russian : Лев Давидович Бронштейн), born 7 November (26 October) 1879 to Ianovka (Ukraine today), and murdered on 21 August 1940 in Mexico city (Mexico), is a revolutionary and politician and russo-soviet. A Militant marxist, the workers ' Party social-democratic party of Russia (POSDR), and then, from the summer of 1917, bolshevik, he is several times deported to Siberia or exiled from Russia, and is president dusoviet of Petrograd during the Russian revolution of 1905. In 1917, he is the main actor, with Lenin, of the October Revolution, which allows bolsheviks to come to power. During the civil war in russia that followed, he founded the red Army, and shows a strong supporter of measures of Terror : its action contributes to the victory of the bolsheviks and to the survival of the soviet regime. It is therefore, and for several years, one of the most important leaders of the communist International and the nascent USSR. He is opposed to the bureaucratization of the regime and to Stalin, taking the head of the left Opposition ; Stalin did finally drive them out of the government (1924) and the communist Party (1927), and then the exile in central Asia before the ban of the USSR (1929). Trotsky then undertakes to organize its supporters, who meet in 1938 within the Fourth International. In 1940, installed auMexique, he was assassinated on Stalin's orders by an agent of the NKVD. At the same time a speaker, a theorist, a historian, who kept the memorials and man of action, Trotsky remains the driving force behind common of which claim to always be the various trotskyist groups throughout the world.
