Francesco Guccini was born in Modena on the 14th of June 1940, but because of the war and spent his childhood and part of adolescence in the country of his grandparents, Pàvana, resort of the Apennines of Pistoia, on the border with the province of bologna. He attended the Istituto magistrale Modena and the teaching Faculty of Letters of Bologna, the city where he moved in 1960. For two years the chronicler of the Gazzetta di Modena, and taught for twenty years Italian at Dickinson College, school, off-campus, with the headquarters in Bologna, of the University of Pennsylvania. He began playing and writing songs in the late fifties: “Musically I was born in 1957, with a guitar received as a gift, I composed the first songs almost immediately...”.
