Review of Silence (2017) by Gareth D — 11 Jan 2017
Oh Jeezus and out come the pseudo-cerebrals with their interpretation of a self-indulgent quest for a quest. It was boring. It was slow. It was uninteresting. When the mighty Scorcese can't excite an audience with numerous tortures, murders and loosened heads, something has gone terribly wrong.
This will be his Untouchables/Little Miss Sunshine/The Verdict Oscar. But it shouldn't be for this. Watching actors gurney with fake tears into the distant vanishing point was unconvincing to say the least.
Also made me (re)-wonder just how stupid people can be. If ever a movie presented evidence for confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance being the province of the religious, it is this. It is this.
