Clearly a labour of love for Scorsese, you can't help but admire 'Silence'. Although its running time is a little overlong and its sometimes hard to get invested, thanks to a fantastic performance by Andrew Garfield and a thought-provoking narrative, it overcomes most of its faults and provides plenty of food for thought.
