Review of Silence (2017) by Tim S — 01 Jul 2017
Absorbing historical drama from Martin Scorsese following Andrew Garfield's Jesuit priest on the trial of his mentor (Liam Neeson) in 17th century Japan, fighting to keep his faith amongst brutal and testing persecution.
Less a study of religion and more an exploration of belief under-fire, the original subject matter makes for acquired but rewarding viewing.
