Review of Silence (2017) by George F — 14 Jan 2017
Man, This movie is intense. Scorsese finally gets to unleash his 20 year long passion project and it is amazing. The movie is subtle and quite and then has thunderous moments. At first the cinematography wasn't super impressive but as the movie goes on it became great.
Some of the best wide angle shots I've seen, also what was surprising was that there wasn't really a score. I found that very impressive and different considering it was Scorsese. My only complaint is that the pacing in the epilogue was a little slow and some random guy was narrating the film.
But this movie was fantastic defiantly Scorsese best since Goodfellas. Easily my #1 film of 2016.
