Review of Noise (2007) by Abraham L — 20 Jun 2008
Don't see this movie. The pace is incredibly slow, and all but a few of the scenes that are meant to build tension fall way short. There are some bright spots with the actors and cinematography (would like to see Brendan Cowell in a meatier role), but sadly no arch to the storyline.
It's not that our characters don't have time to develop - the director gives lots of screen time even to some of the minor characters - it's just that there's nothing in the plot to which they can react.
The drama is overwrought and we learn most every plot point within the first thirty minutes, leaving a good hour of space where wait, and wait, and wait, for an ending that, by the time it arrives, is so drained of suspense that we're relieved just to see the credits.
I almost fell asleep several times.
