Review of Noise (2007) by Raelene L — 23 Nov 2009
This is most certainly not an ordinary crime film. This film is about the psychological effect that violence and crime has on individuals. Never have I seen a film that goes into such depth in analysing this.
The main characters are atypical, and at times this can be uncomfortable, confrontational even. It must be that we are not used to such strong social realistic films like Noise. The production design was fantastic - some of those sets, the main ones being the caravan and the protagonist's home, were so brilliantly designed and decorated.
The sound design was outstanding! Cinematography was brilliant. I thought the character development could've been better for Lavinia, otherwise the character plots were great. It's just a pity that these kinds of 'arthouse' films don't make the mark for Australian audiences, and therefore goes into the pile with the rest of box office flops in the country.
Nevertheless, great film!
