Review of Eden (2015) by Mo-Jai M — 07 Aug 2015
Eden is a messy, sprawling and defiantly flawed musical masterpiece, befit with an unconventionally free flowing structure and often jarring time jumps, between which the characters hilariously seem not to age. Flawed and ambitious is better than bland, however. This is a witty, utterly engaging and simply marvellous ode to an era of music which doubles up as a loose tale of sticking to your passions, even when the society around you has advanced. Whilst an undeniably lengthy movie, Eden is a pleasure to watch and also to listen to; even when it drags, just closing your eyes and absorbing the aural pleasure of its relentless parade of music is enough to satisfy.
(This movie also automatically scores 5 stars for starring Greta Gerwig).
