Review of Beauty and the Beast (1992) by Jari K — 14 Jul 2014
"You've already seen the Disney version, what's the sense in building up a plot?".
That line seems to be the slogan for most of Goodtimes' cash-in films, and this one is no different. A 40 minute film that almost seems like a stretch, considering how slowly the 'plot', if you can call it that, builds up. Complete with down-market animation and characterless puppets dancing around, making giant leaps of logic in order to keep the plot moving forward, and waiting the film to be over.
At least it's mercifully short, and sometimes it's so bad it's kind of amusing. But those moments are very few and far between, and that is no good in a 40 minute 'movie'.
