Review of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1983) by Art S — 01 Dec 2010
Bowie comes across tough not tender, a bit more Aladdin Sane than Ziggy Stardust (and not yet feeling the come-down of Diamond Dogs), in this 1973 cabaret hard-rock show. To me, there's something lacking in the performances which are all muscled up and ultimately a bit same-y (even Let's Spend the Night Together and White Light White Heat) which led me to sell the soundtrack years ago.
Still, it's nice to know this is out there.
