Review of Yi Yi (2000) by Alex E — 09 Aug 2007
Marvelous, understated, life-affirming filmmaking from the late, great Edward Yang. Captures both the joy and the melancholy of an average family in a way that few, if any American films have managed and even goes so far as to suggest, beautifully, that human experience is infinite as each new generation attempts to understand the world they inhabit.
This is without a doubt one of the greatest films of the past ten years.
