Review of Yi Yi (2000) by Ricardo O — 04 Dec 2009
A film about the ups and downs of life and the uncertainty of what will come.
The late, great Edward Yang crafts one of the best films of the decade. The cinematography is really nice and I love the use of reflections through glass, I thought that was wonderful. The script is quite good. Yang's direction is fantastic and worthy of the awards he won for this film. All of the actors are great especially the ones playing NJ, Ting Ting, and Yang Yang.
This is one of the best films of the '00s and can't understand how it was overlooked at the Oscars even after all the acclaim it got. 10/10.
